Daniel Kaufman, Danziger: “Focal Scoop fulfills designers’ needs”
“Innovative breeding is our core value, and as such our breeding teams are in a constant effort not only to improve existing varieties but also to introduce new and innovative products”, says Daniel Kaufman of Danziger. At the IFTF he tells about their newest cut flower range Focal Scoop.
Focal Scoop expands the market for Scoop Scabiosa, as it brings an additional option of to use it.
Three years after launching the highly demanded Scoop series, Danziger is introducing Focal Scoop. Compared to the original Scoop series, the flower of the Focal Scoop is almost double the size, 8-10 cm. It is available in eight colors. “It was exposed for the first time at the Expo Flor Ecuador exhibition. The Focal Scoop is an additional series, which is aimed to answer an unmet need of a Scoop that can stand as a focal. Whether as a consumer bunch or as a focal flower, we heard from designers, that they wished they had this possibility as well, for different kinds of designs, and with the new varieties of Focal Scoop we can fulfill their needs.”
Florsani
According to Daniel, the Focal Scoop will be available in commercial quantities during 2019. However, an attentive visitor of the IFTF will have spotted it at the stand of Ecuadorian grower Florsani. This year they started several trials to find out which ones grow best in their local conditions.
“In Ecuador we have the perfect conditions for growing the Focal Scoop”, says Belén García of Florsani. “It has a beautiful large head size and a long stem.” Florsani supplies to the Netherlands, United States, China and Australia. “Focal Scoop is suitable for all our markets. First of all, it is a hard flower, so it won’t be harmed during transport. Secondly: the Scabiosa is on trend, many florists use them in bouquets. Due to the colors they can be used all year round.”
